Works on Panels
My works on panel represent a return to color after working in graphite for five years. Each painting is an intuitive emotional response created directly with large oil bars. Line merges with form as drawing turns to painting and color emerges.
Confluence
Confluence: Three Rivers of My Birth: the Allegheny, the Ohio and, the Monongahela is a series of paintings, works on paper and a window installation inspired by a solo performance developed in an improvisational 10-Week performance workshop with Rachel Rosenthal. The map began with blue fabric on the floor, indicating water, and white birds placed at locations of significance in my personal history, including the hospital where I was born, along the confluence of three rivers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The largest painting in the series contains imbedded performance instructions such as walk, wade, swim, and emerge.
